This car was ordered by Madeline in July 1955 when she was 30 years old. Madeline was born April 28, 1925. She took delivery of the car on August 30, 1955. She was too nervous to drive it home, so she had her brother do it. He made sure she drove it later that day. She ordered the car with V8 Automatic, radio, rear view mirrors, turn signals, two tone paint, being Glacier blue and Shoreline beige, optional oil filter, heater, white wall tires, back-up lights, windshield washer, undercoat, inside mirror, and EZ eye glass. The car was purchased from Rowley Chevrolet in Spencerport, NY. This is a no hit car. Car was off road and stored in a building for 45 years, from 1965 to 2010, still wearing its 1965 New York State inspection sticker. When asked why it sat so long, Madeline said it was the first and only new car she ever bought, and she just couldnt bear to part with it. This was a rare, unmolested, 43,000 original miles find, which deserved to be restored to original with the parts that were installed by GM back in the summer of 55period! I had the pleasure of meeting Madeline in February 2012. She is now 87, and is the nicest person you could ever wish to meet. Madeline spent 39 years at Eastman Kodak Company as a meticulous bookkeeper, which might explain her filing and keeping the original bill of sale and the first-issued registration, which are still in impeccable condition. I am the current owner. I purchased the car in 2010, and restored it back to original from 2010-2012, painstakingly dis-assembling, restoring, and reassembing the car. Throughout the process, I was fortunate enough to obtain information directly from a couple of experts: Danny Howell and Gene Showers, both of whom are experienced national judges. Now that weve moved to Florida, Danny came to my home and spent time inspecting the finished projectthumbs up and beyond! Danny would be more than happy to be contacted by anyone with a serious interest in the car. Before leaving New York State, I had the pleasure of taking Madeline (now 87) for a ride in her once again Brand New 55 Chevy! I also have historical information concerning the local dealership, and the car still sports its "Rowley Chevrolet, Spencerport" license plate frame.
